Hi, this is my first time to ask question in this website. I am sorry for my poor English.

I am wondering if I can book first class flight but I already purchased economy class ticket in same flight.

Here is my situation:
Recently, I booked Tokyo – Frankfurt (connecting) – JFK with lifemiles.
Basically my flight is Tokyo to JFK via Frankfurt, and from Tokyo to Frankfurt is ANA First class, then to JFK is LH economy class.
Also I am planning to purchase First class LH flight from FRA to JFK whenever available, approximately 2weeks or even couple days before the departure.
I am willing to pay extra ticket since FRA-JFK economy tickets values barely.

I already asked to ANA service counter and it is okay to enter Germany and re-check in.
However, flight from FRA to JFK cannot be cancelled otherwise, fantastic deal of ANA First class ticket will be canceled as well.

Is it okay(or possible) to book same flight with first class seat when economy class seat is already booked? Is there any possibility to be denied boarding?
Or should is it more safe to buy another route not using same airplane?
I found FRA-MUC-JFK costs almost same price, is this route more recommended?

I don’t think you will be able to purchase two seats on the same plane but in different cabins, using your name.

I’m not overly familiar with Lifemiles – but you should be able to upgrade your ticket from economy when space becomes available. There will likely be a change fee involved. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong?
