Is Asiana offering free (compulsory) upgrades on First onboard their A380 to LAX?

Is Asiana offering free (compulsory) upgrades on First onboard their A380 to LAX?

    Lucky,

I was just checking connections for a friend, saw that One Way and/or Round trip from ICN to LAS via LAX (380) on Asiana in First (A) is a little cheaper than via SFO (77L) on Asiana in Business (C). It shows Business “Not Available” (only shows First and Eco bookable) for LAX.
What is even weirder is while booking roundtrip via LAX C is available but when selected it automatically bumps to A.

I saw this on United’s website, haven’t checked with the others yet.

Does anyone know why are they doing this? Could it be a promotion to boost their dwindling First Class occupancy?
