Is it possible to fly from Shanghai(PVG) to Bali(DPS) or any other Southern Asia destination? This would be needed to book with Alaska MileagePlan miles.

Yes you can fly Cathay, but it has to be Cathay and not flights operated by DragonAir which narrows down the number of flights and award seats

Alaska has even fixed the new and fancy award cost finder on their website so that it show the right amount of miles now, J is 22.5K miles and F is 27.5K miles.

All Oneworld FF programs like say AA, BA or JAL can book DragonAir award seats if you are going somewhere CX don’t fly, but under Alaska FF program rules you can only book CX and not their subsidiary DragonAir.

And if you have any questions about the experience on-board CX regional product might I suggest this trip report?
