How to assign seats with CX when booked with BA Avios??
All,
I have a 2 part question. After 2 years of trying to find award space with CX (that wasn’t departing within 24 hours) I was finally able to book an award in CX business class and CX first class for a regional and long haul flight. I booked the flights with BA Avios (I know it’s not the best use of points but I have more BA points than I can shake a stick at) and now I’m trying to get everything in order.
First question: how is the best way to get the CX PNR number (or any other airline PNR when booked with BA Avios)? The confirmation number I have is for BA.
Second question: how is the easiest way to assign my seats with CX? Do I use the CX and manage my booking (again I need the PNR and ticket number).
Thanks for the help!

Question 1: Try the BA booking code as I’ve used that as the code on other partners, but not CX. If it doesn’t work call BA for the specific BA code. You can also use the 16 digit ticket number that BA assigned.
Question 2: Down load the CX app and put in the code. You can assign seats and use it for checkin, etc. You can also assign seats on cathaypacific.com or call and wait 30 minutes for them to answer.

I’ve had better luck with hold times calling their HKG call center. Might be worth spending a little bit on hangouts or skype to minimize call times.
Just venting @Gaurav. Spent 30 min on hold the other day only to be disconnected and waiting another 30 min on a call back, however their agents are very friendly. Wish they’d open first seat selection so you don’t have to call.
I’ve always had the best luck by calling the HKG call center, and I’m able to reserve any open seat. They don’t seem to block anything.
I think checkmytrip.com might be able to show the CX PNR with an Avios booking. That’s how I got the JAL PNR for flights booked with Avios.
