Depends where you’re going, how you’re booking (awards or cash) and how flexible your plans are.
For example:
Summer in Europe can be pretty tough so if you’re flexible and see award space, it’s best to get tickets ASAP. For cash, sometimes there can be great deals. If tickets are priced better departing europe, think about nested tickets so that you can also factor in your next trip as well.
