Is there a hotel connected to Heathrow and if not, where would you recommend nearby?

Yes, there is a Hilton connected though if it’s not connected to the terminal you’ll be using you may do just as well money-wise to stay somewhere else. The shuttle between some terminals is not free so you might have to pay for a ride anyway.

I really enjoyed the Renaissance across the street a couple years ago – really convenient location and you get good views of the runway! If that’s important.

The food options (bar, lounge) are also open pretty good hours, if I remember, which is nice since flights arrive to Heathrow at literally all hours of the day/night

There’s a bunch nearby, I’d you have a preferred hotel chain I’d book there, otherwise check for good prices. Keep in mind very few have free shuttles, and if you have more than one passenger it can be less expensive to take a taxi than to use the Hotel Hoppa.
