Holding onto AA Executive Platinum Status?

Holding onto AA Executive Platinum Status?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Lucky,

You are my new frequent Flyer guru and it is well deserved.

I live near LAX and have traveled frequently around the world for work. I actually work for a company that supplies most of the world’s airlines with the interior aircraft lighting (think purple lighting on Virgin and the red and Blue on AA).

Anyway, I have been fortunate enough to accumulate miles on airlines and points on hotel stays and have racked up millions of miles and as I have a young family , wife a 2 girls we have been able to travel all over the world with a lot of your amazing advice.

    My current issue is this.

I have dedicated myself to being an AA frequent flyer and have traveled over 3 million miles and currently have about 1.5 million miles on AA and over 1 million points with Hilton.

These have been my 2 primary frequent travel partners but am discouraged with AA’s new mileage and dollar spend targets to reach Exec. Plat. Status.

I also currently have the Hilton Honors Visa Card, SPG Card, AA Excecutive Card, AA Platinum Card, AA Barclay Card, Hyatt Visa Card and my wife has the same, we have learned from the best (Lucky).

As you know, on AA I will have to travel 100,000 plus miles and spend over $12,000 in actual revenue to hold onto my exec plat status and will prove to be difficult to reach the spend target as I have always traveled as frugally as possible when it comes to buying tickets.

In the past was awarded 8 systemwides and status for flying 100,000 plus miles but no more as has been cut in half. Shame on AA. Was a great perk!

    Main Question

What’s the most economical way to reach AA Executive Platinum now that there is an annual spend threshold?

Look forward to your feedback and to continue learning from the best.

    Kindest regards,

    Pelle
