Group of 4, Korean Air F a380 or 77W?

My wife and I are taking my parents across the pacific and we have are going to book F rewards (only 20k more skymiles per person from J). Suffice to say it’s trip of a lifetime for us – my parents have been across the Atlantic but never in J, never mind F. We’ve never flown true F either but we’ve had a ton of great J experiences.

I know the A380 has the older kosmo suites and it doesnt have the doors but given it’s a group of 4 would that even matter? From all I’ve read about Korean Air F it’s all about the soft product anyway. The cabin looks like an ICU waiting room but from experience even in J they hit it out the park with soft product.

So, do we do SFO on 77W for Kosmo 2.0 or do we do LAX or JFK on A380 and have access to the J lounges upstairs and just soak up the A380 while we can?

Looking at the Bonvoy 50% promotion and 95k F rewards, by my math should be able to get F tix around $2k/piece? I have about a million Bonvoy points anyway so that will work but food for thought.

In your case traveling as family, I appreciate the openness of A380. You can all dine together in the middle (classic), and take pics etc. I once took my family on EK F, and thought it was a bit weird to have fully enclosed doors (very similar to KE 777 F.
I would vote for KE a380 option.
