Edelweiss Air has just taken delivery of its first A340, given to it by Swiss. The A340 will fly on european routes from Zurich to Fuerteventura, Palma de Mallorca, Heraklion, Larnaca and Antalya, but only in October and only on certain days! In November the A340 will get new Edelweiss Interior with Business between two Economy cabins (ewww).

You can not book a First Class ticket on those flights, but only Business.

Now you can only reserve Business seats until 23 hours before Flight, when the online check in comes available. Now after (online) checking in the 8 First Class seats are able to be selected for check in, but ONLY for online check in with Swiss, so you do need to book your flight with Swiss. (Note you can also reserve online check in seats when already checked in by an agent int the neat little Swiss app) The agent at check in can NOT do it, nor does anybody do it when you email the support. Btw: Senator reserved Business seats with Swiss can be reserved per email even when not Senator on this flight I did so for my ang got seats in row 4 by sending an email to support (only way to do it, can not reserve seats otherwise). I was able then to get myself Seat 1A (plus 1G and 1K for my fellow companions).

We would have been the only ones in First since you can only reserve them via online check in and Business on this flight had only 18 occupied, but Economy was overbooked so 25 ppl got upgraded and since in the system of Edelweiss First seats were counted as Business 4 of those eco guy got lucky and were seated behind us.

From Seat 1A you have a great view into the cockpit btw. 😉

The service is not even close to First worthy nor long haul Business, just like Swiss or Edelweiss Business short haul. (You get a nice meal though) Also the flight attendants are very new to the aircraft and so bear with them :p

I hope some of you get the chance to fly on a product sold for over 10k sometimes for only a short haul Business price. 😉 I surprised the ppl flying with me with those seats. (I do not want to pay for First on long haul honestly). You can do the same!
