FLR to SFO, J Class, UR points

FLR to SFO, J Class, UR points

I am looking to book a return flight back from Italy using my UR points in J class. My wife wants only one stop and a short travel time (She is not an Aviation Geek). From what I can tell, my current options maybe have drawbacks and are as follows:

AF A380 (Angled lie flats)
TK (Have to rail to FCO and a warm plane)
LX (2 stops, ZRH, LAX, SFO)

My travels need to commence sometime between 9/20/17 and 9/24/17. My question is, what is the likelihood that the following routes will show back up and how long should I wait? If the following routes do not show up, which out of the above options is most attractive?

AF 777-2
KL 787 (What I’m flying out)
LX (1 stop ZRH)

Any other options to consider? Thanks!

I’d transfer the points to KE and book KLM because it has the best product.

The problem is KLM isn’t showing a saver fare for that time. It is 150k, pp, one way.

You could transfer your points to UA and fly LH (slightly more miles for partner awards) it’s 70k per person

Well it sounds like I’m on the right track, but unfortunately LG doesn’t have saver availability. Thanks for the responses.

While the AF angle-flat certainly isn’t the best product, it is a daytime flight (thus only needing it for a nap, not a good night’s sleep) and might not be the end of the world if it meets your wife’s other criteria.

You could fly LX (ZRH), UA (ORD, IAD, or EWR from FCO), AC (YYZ), LH (FRA), or SAS (CPH) with UA miles

And they’re not likely to. KLM availability is very sparse, you need to book 10+ months out with a partner, or sometimes the week of departure.

Agree with @Brad B’s suggestion to look at SAS. They may have a one-stop routing.

Thanks everyone. I really wanted LX, but they are 2 stops in ZRH and LAX. We currently booked AF A380. I am continuing to watch LX through UA for a one stop, as well as monitoring for AF 777-2 and KLM 787. I am confident that I will be more than comfortable in any of the products, but being that I do not accumulate miles like this often, I want them to go the farthest.

If you can get business saver fares on the LX flight to LAX I would take it and then watch the SFO and pay the $75 change fee, which will probably open up a few weeks prior (or even day before). One extra stop is worth it if you want to fly LX in J
