Flight to Ankara

Flight to Ankara

I have tickets on Turkish Airlines to Ankara for a one week visit departing April 18th, which is one day after the new suspension of flights. Regardless of the suspension, at this time, I am clearly not going to Turkey any time soon. You recommended previously to contact the air lines closer to the departure time. I am hoping for a refund since I will most likely not fly with Turkish in the foreseeable future. Should I still wait or would it be better to contact them now?

Welcome @Masspjm – well, you can try to contact them now but, of course, be prepared to be on hold for a very long time. You might reach out via Twitter or Facebook though I have no idea how responsive the Turkish social media team is. Personally I’d wait until the next announcement of the suspension that will cover your dates and then call.

Thank you for your response MidSouth Skier. I just wanted to give you an update. The above mentioned flights were cancelled and I requested a refund thru their online portal. The auto response said this request will be evaluated within 7 days. I did not hear back from them and on the 7th day, I called Turkish Airlines and to my surprise, I was able to speak to someone right away. They encouraged me to rebook, get credit for a future booking, or get an open ticket. I kindly requested a refund if possible. At that time, I was told no problem but I could turn my tickets to points and receive bonus points in tune of 1000 for every 10 euros spent on my ticket. That made me think for a while since that is a ton of extra points. I opted for a refund. I was told it will take a minimum of 60 days.
