Flight home cancelled. Help! Now what?
Hello everyone!
My family and I are soon going to go on vacation in Chile (we leave next Wednesday). We were just notified through Orbitz (whom the ticket was booked through) that the flight home, 12/28, ~8pm from MIA to IND on AA was cancelled. Any suggestions? Am I entitled to compensation? What’s my next step? Thanks so much.
UPDATE: I called Orbitz customer service who offered 7:15pm MIA to CLT to IND. I didn’t want this because we are travelling with some children who may or may not be quite grumpy when we get home past midnight on the way back. We took ~9:15am AA MIA to IND instead on the next day, 12/29. Am I still entitled to compensation? (I figured no, but I thought I’d ask, esp. because we will have to cover our hotel overnight) Thanks so much!
Crystal
Were there any other direct flights on the same day that you could have taken? Seems like a little bit of a gray area here since they did offer you a flight on the same day that you declined. I would try and ask for the cost of the hotel night with a polite request although they may brush you off to AA. Really depends on how much time and energy you want to spend on this. Good luck!
Contacted Orbitz, said they’d cover my overnight in Miami. Thanks so much!
