Flagship Lounge Access

Flagship Lounge Access

Do i get to use the LAX Flagship lounge in the following routing

    LAX- DFW at 1am (First)
    DFW- NRT at 10am (Business)

My understanding is a SAME day qualifying ticket allows you entry to any Flagship Lounge so since my lax to dallas flight is the SAme day (1am) i should be okay right? IF I was on the 8pm flight to dallas say my understanding is i would not be able to use the lax flagship lounge

I think the reason that i am uncertain is because i would be using the LAX lounge itself on the day before I would use it say at 10pm or 11pm. However, that would be no different than if my international fight was the 130am lax to NRt and i wanted to use the lounge at 10pm of course i could, they dont make you wait until 12am to enter.

So on my above mentioned routing would i be able to have dinner and hang out and check out the Flagship Lounge at LAX?

I sent an email to American on this matter 27 days ago and have yet to hear back

I don’t think so, though I could be wrong. Your ticket from DFW to NRT in J is what is getting you access. The flight from LAX to DFW is not operated (and sold) as a 3 class flight, is it?

FWIW, the Flagship Lounge in LAX is nice, but nothing to rave about. It is less crowded, which is very nice. But if you are departing LAX internationally the Qantas F lounge is nicer. I am sure the Flagship dinning is nice (something I want to try sometime at JFK or DFW, or LAX), but to access that you need to be flying F in a 3 (or 4) class plane.

I hope you’re wrong haha. REally was hoping to check out the Flagship Lounge at LAX and even check out some of the nicer Bradley lounges.

Yes my flight to dallas is regular First, not a 3 cabin plane. However, it says on AA web site all you need is a Same Day ticket that qualifies to get in, which I have.

The thing that i am worried about is that I would be using the Flagship lounge the night before technically but that shouldnt matter. My 1am flight to dallas is the same day as the flight from Dallas to NRT. I think i should be able to enter. Anyone know for sure?

Btw, i dont get why they restrict the dining to just F. United Polaris anyone can eat in the restaurant part. However, they let far less ppl in to Polaris than Flagship so I guess thats why they can do that

Good luck – I am just saying not to get your hopes up. “Same day ticket” can be construed to mean the same day you are entering the lounge – which you are not. Post-midnight red-eyes are not considered “same-day” for purposes of SDC (unless AA has changed it?).

Thx. And yes i get what you’re saying. The using it before Midnight thing is what i was worried about. Friend of mine had no problem using Dallas Flagship enroute to LAX for J fare lax to SYD, but all of that was same day flights but also same day using the lounge.. Obviously i am looking to use it before midnight. However, if i were in the airport of the J fare ticket and it left after midnight (i.e the AA 130am flight to hong kong) i would be able to obviously use the lounge Pre midnight.

Dont suppose anyone from American will ever respond to my email asking about this, its been almost a month since I sent it.

Did you try checking with the AA Twitter team? They’re actually really good.

Thank you i sent them a message. They did reply and said ” you can go in the lounge as long as its the same day”

So lets take out of the equation my leaving lax normal domestic to get to dallas to the J fare flight to tokyo…

If i was flying at 130am from LAX to HKG in Business or lets even say FIRST……i cant enter the lounge until 12am ?? That doesnt sound right

I have a response in writing from AA Flagship/Admirals rep saying i can go into the LAX lounge the night before since its an overnight flight to dallas but same day as flight to Tokyo.

However, then i get another email from the same lady asking me for flight details, which i already provided in the original email she responded to saying i can go in. I am saving the good email and showing them that if there is a problem

Most inept airline out there for customer service and the whole phantom seats thing drives me crazy too.

Just goes to show how much taking even the slightest interest in miles and points and loyalty programs can go a long way! Most would never bother to look into in advance, and would be stuck not getting into the lounge.

I had a schedule change on an upcoming September flight, and spent 15 minutes on the phone over the weekend with an agent who couldn’t understand why I wanted to keep my redeye to JFK and a 4 hour layover, rather than a redeye to Charlotte and a 1 hour 20 minute layover. He was convinced American had no lie-flat seats on any Airbus planes in the fleet.

Anyways, it’s not just you 🙂

Agree completely and thanks for the reply. I cant wait to check out the Flagship Lounge in both LAX and DFW. And yes i imagine many ppl maybe dont even realize they can get in

The incompetence of the AA staff though is crazy .Maybe its not just an AA thing. However, to not know there are lie flat seats on any Airbus thats crazy.

    Good job avoiding Charlotte !!

I have a screen shot on my phone as well as the saved email, i dont entirely trust AA reps at the lounge to understand the rules. Given its a 1am flight that counts as same day so i can get in. I am more worried they may say “you have to wait until midnight” But this email response should refute that.
