Finnair to Longyearbyen?
What happened to Finnair’s summer 2016 HEL-LYR flights? Ben posted about it a while ago, and I was all excited to book a Norwegian vacation flying Oneworld from Miami to Bergen, and going home from Svalbard through Helsinki. Now I can’t find that Finnair flight anywhere!
Have you tried doing a dummy paid booking for days you are looking for to see if they are still selling tickets?
I tried some dates in June to the middle of July and they are selling tickets then on most dates, but some seem to full already.
Options for getting to LYR on points are limited, so all award seats on your dates might already be gone.
I had tried searching for paid fares on various July dates and saw nothing at all so I was confused. I didn’t expect the planes to fill up completely. I just serached in June at your suggestion and found some paid fares, so I guess these flights are just selling out. Even if June was an option, no awards available – bummer! Luckily, there are still lots of award seats to and from Miami, so I’ll just have to book Norwegian to LYR out of Oslo. Thank you!
What are you try to book? BGO-HEL-LYR-HEL-US? Or just HEL-LYR-US?
If it’s multi segment award have you tried searching segment by segment?
Don’t lock yourself into looking just for Norwegian fares, the price difference to SK might not be high for Y. And SK will sell you one ways without a one way surcharge same as Norwegian on their short haul Europe network. And both fly out of OSL.
A quick check on Ita Matrix seems to indicate that tickets are still being sold on all dates in July.
But there are only flights HEL-LYR on Mon, Wed and Sat with returns on Tue, Thu and Sun, just as Lucky’s article stated 3 weekly.
