Finding travel gems
Lucky,
I recently discovered your article on To The Middle East…The Very Long Way and wanted to understand how to discover these types of opportunities. This type of trip is right up my alley and I would love to take advantage of this type of experience. Can you share the secret of how to find these travel gems (or do you post them to this site while they are still available for purchase, and if so, where)?
Thanks so much,
Giovanni
Welcome @gsd101 – Lucky will often post these fares, as he did with the Dubai to Austin fare sale from BA that was the impetus behind that trip. You may also want to follow the Flight Deal and Airfarewatchdog on their sites (and on Twitter) to find flights that may interest you.
MidSouth Skier,
Thank you for the quick response and information (and the links). I am new to the site and trying to learn my way around. Would offers like this be posted to the main landing page (http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/) or is the somewhere else on the site that I should look? Also, because I may not be able to check the site everyday (meaning that I might miss a post), is there a way to set up alerts?
@gsd101 posts all go on the main page. You could also subscribe to the email newsletter or use Twitter to set up alerts although this is probably not the best site to track cheap fares. The mileage running forum on FT and the resources that @MidSouth Skier mentions are much better bets.
Thanks guys, these are now two of my new favorite sites (The Flight Deal and Flyertalk). Any other recommendations for ways (or sites) to find first class deals like the Middle East one are very welcome.
