FF Options to Israel on AA miles

FF Options to Israel on AA miles

Curious if anyone has any creative ideas on how best to get to Israel with AA miles from the West Coast. AA site wants to route me on Royal Jordanian which based on Lucky’s review is probably not the best idea. Thanks in advance.

There are non-stops to TLV from LHR – of course that means paying BA’s extra surcharges and fees.

It is also advisable that you avoid travel to Israel via Jordan for security reasons. This has nothing to do with the security in Amman, but rather you could be asked additional questions in Tel Aviv both upon arrival and departure when they see that you are traveling via Jordan. It is fine to do so, but to avoid the security hassle, I avoid routings like these.

Regarding options from the west coast, I don’t have much experience. I do know that Iberia, Finnair, and Airberlin occasionally release space to the east coast, but overall have found their award availability (in business class) to be somewhat limited. What cabin do you want to fly in?

Thanks for this input. I thought it was a bit of a strange routing too, although I guess Israel and Jordan have at least a formal relationship vs Israel and UAE. I’m looking for business class. I see a lot of availability from LHR to TLV on BA, but getting to LHR from the west coast is nearly impossible.

Is what you mean “getting to LHR non-stop from the west coast is nearly impossible”? Because there should be plenty of 1-stop options. From Wikipedia, I found BA flies to these cities: Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix, Vancouver, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, DFW, Houston, Los Angeles, JFK, Newark, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, IAD. And that doesn’t even count where AA flies from.
