EY wants to cancel my award ticket on AA

EY wants to cancel my award ticket on AA

1. Anonymous Guest

So back in december i made a redemption booking using my etihad miles for flights with AA. After searching everywhere the agent finally managed to find me space and booked me for travel in sep 2016. First class from HKG-DFW-EWR on sep 15 and return on JFK-DFW-HKG on sep 30. Wanting to check a few upcoming trips i have on AA i noticed this one booking seemed to have an issue and i was told to contact reservations when i would pull it up on AA. AA tells me that the only confirmed flight on their end is DFW-EWR and that the 3 others are unconfirmed and that my only solution is to call EY and have their liaison figure it out with AA but it shouldnt be any trouble. After numerous calls to EY who each time told me all flights were 100% confirmed and OK TO FLY i decided to write them so someone would take the time to really figure it out.
EY had issued me an e-ticket and everything on it seemed like there was no problem with the booking.
Today i finally get a call back from EY saying that they tried calling AA to confirm the flights but there is no award space so this cannot be done and they are offering to refund me the miles and cash i had paid for this ticket.
I personnaly cannot find this acceptable as during those 15 days in NYC i have planned and booked a place to stay as well as 2 seperate tickets (sep 19-21) and (sep 27-29) that are both non-refundable. The person on the phone seemed to understand my frustration but said that was their only option.
What recourse do i have, since they had confirmed the reservation to me on numerous occasions and i even have the e-ticket showing everything was confirmed and ok to fly.

Hi Mike! Sorry you’re having to deal with this, but that is the correct course of action here. Etihad will have to work with AA to figure out why the ticket they issued for you didn’t push over to their partner.

Etihad Guest is sorta horrible to deal with though, so you may have to facilitate a conference call between the two airlines if they’re not being proactive about it.

@Tiffany–could MikeK file a DOT complaint if he is not getting anywhere with EY since he has an issued ticket?
