Europe to Hong Kong
Hi,
Was wondering in hearing your opinion on how would you rank the following First Class redemption options from Europe to HKG…
I will say that I am willing to do another connection if it’s the right option…
I have the following options and can’t choose myself:
1) Lufthansa A380
2) Cathay 777
3) Singapore A380
4) Thai A380
I have first class available on all options and the miles the use.
I never tried any of them and also have the option to return with another option so how would you rank the options, which would you choose first?
Never taken First but based on Lucky’s reports:
1) Singapore A380 if you get it all the way and manage to secure a double bed
2) Cathay Pacific
3) Lufthansa A380
4) Thai A380
I don’t know much about Thai but depending on what is important to you, only LH will allow you to try the FCT in FRA. I think it’s going to come down to something minor that you value more because the products are very good.
THAI First, absolutely. Singapore can’t cook. LH are un-attentive, Cathay Pacific – sometimes outdated product (aircraft).

Thai is good, but I’d rank it last based on Lucky’s reports. Only walked through Cathay’s First (and sat right behind it the whole time), and it certainly didn’t look “outdated”.
Overly broad, generic statements like the one above Alvin’s are best taken with large helping of salt.
@Alvin, you’ve missed the word “sometimes”. This “sometimes” drags the whole statistics down for Cathays. You’d surely want to fly a380 and not 747. If you do not fly the product yourself it is very hard to judge. This thread is about opinions not critiques of opinions.
I don’t believe Cathay operates 747s to Europe any longer — the handful of planes they have left in operation are serving intra-Asia routes (I think).
Out of Europe, I would do Lufthansa, given the better lounge experiences on departure.
