Emirates Or Turkey Business Class

Emirates Or Turkey Business Class

  1. khaterina New Member

    Hi there,

Planning a long haul flight to Oslo this coming August. Still wondering about the airlines.
There is a $600 difference between Emirates and Turkey, Emirates obviously being more expensive.

However, I just learned that the fleet for Emirates is the 777-300ER which means that it is an angled bed and no sky bar. But that said, Dubai airport is massive thus I have better things to do during the layover and there is a chauffeur service.

What would you choose if you were me?

    Thanks

    Hi @khaterina, and welcome!

I’d go with Turkish in this case hands-down:

$600 is quite a big difference

Turkish has a lie-flat business class with great catering

The Turkish lounge at IST is huge, so you’d have plenty to do
I agree with @Tiffany
I would trade TK Lounge at IST with DXB airport any day.

Also, assuming you’re traveling from the US, it’ll be shorter flights as well.

Bit late, but there are few more things to consider.

Yes, the EK B777 used on the OSL route is not lie flat and I believe it’s a short red eye to OSL.

However for TK OSL is a short haul destination flown with A321 with seats similar to domestic US First and not one of their long haul widebodies with lie flat seating.

See here for pictures of the cabin:

The Seatguru chart seems to be outdated
    http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Turkish_Airlines/Turkish_Airlines_Airbus_A321_C_new.php

See here for all TK seatmaps.

It’s worth mentioning that almost half the TK short haul fleet (B737-800) is Euro J aka economy with free middle seat, avoid if you can.

So if @khaterina ends up taking TK make sure it’s a day flight and not a short red eye flown some days of the week.

Otherwise I agree with @Tiffany about the lounge in IST.

I would go with TK 🙂 EK’s 777s are below average and aren’t anything special
