Emirates flight

Emirates flight

I would like to book two (wife plus I) Emirates business class flight one way from JFK to Milan Malpensa on 20 Oct the rate is about 65000 points plus 500 USD per ticket so much cheaper than the 4000 USD fare. I have no Emirates Skywards points although I have plenty of Avios (BA Gold), about 58000 SPG and similar number of Virgin Atlantic (Gold) and United points. Is there a solution to this problem in terms of transfers. I need 130000 points. Thanks for your help.

You can get skyward points by transferring from SPG or MR accounts. You can also transfer from hotel accounts although the rates aren’t good except for SPG. The Frequent Miler maintains a comprehensive list of transfer partners at https://goo.gl/kK3p7H. No secret way to get the miles unfortunately unless Emirates offers them for sale.

You could also look at transferring your SPG points to Alaska, and buying the remainder. Similar award price, but lower fees, so you might come out ahead.

Just make sure Alaska shows availability as well, sometimes they get less than Emirates does directly.
