emirates awards
i asked the question last week about using citi thank you points on emirates and was told that it was next to impossible.. Could’nt i deposit them in Asia miles and then transfer to alaskan and book emirates from there ?
Thanks
Hello Stevey
Transferring miles from one frequent flyer programs to another are in general impossible to do directly. There might in some cases be possible to convert the miles true points.com or hotel programs, but these are terrible options and you would lose a lot of your miles. And I’m not sure if there is even a path from Asia Miles to Alaska.
For where you can transfer Citi thank you points have a look at this post by Frequentmiler, it contains a link to an up to date Google spreadsheet where you can find where points can be transferred.

As you can see it should be possible to transfer you TY points to Virgin America and book an award on Emirates from there. There is heavy surcharges when booking Emirates award on Virgin America, but it’s the only way to do it with TY points.
Read this article about how to do it.
