Dublin-Auck with nipper

My wife & I plan on travelling Dublin -Auckland return in Dec 2017/Jan 2018 with our 1 year old. Unfortunately our budget means it will be economy all the way.
We are leaning towards Emirates with an overnight stay in Dubai (to break up the trip)
The flight from Dubai-Auck is a monster. Is this flight to much to do this with a 1 year old or should be looking at another stopover?
Also I assume the Boeing 777-200LR is an inferior plane than the Airbus A380? Just reading conflicting reports on what plane we will actually be in.

For the DXB-AKL leg, it depends on whether you, your wife and child are okay with being that long on a flight. It is one of the longest in the world but some parents and kids are perfectly fine with it while others may not be.

I wouldnt say the 772L is that much more inferior than the A380 in economy. The differences is that the A380 economy seats are just a bit wider and that there are more seats overall. If the cabin isnt full on the direct flight, you can get a row or two to yourselves and it’ll be more comfortable. However, one of the frequencies on an A380 that makes another stop would probably increase your chances of getting that empty row.
