Downgrading from Preferred to Freedom Unlimited

Downgrading from Preferred to Freedom Unlimited

I’ve never downgraded a credit card so I’m just wondering if I should or need to move all my current Preferred UR points over to the Reserve before I call Chase up? The Preferred is my card with the longest credit history but no longer need it since I also have the Reserve now.

And just to make sure, I’m wanting them to downgrade to the Unlimited right? (I already have Freedom)

    Does downgrading count towards 5/24?

You’re points should be safe while downgrading the card since you’re moving to another UR earning product. Your account number will stay the same as well so it should not have any effect on 5/24. Really up to you whether you choose Unlimited or Freedom. I’d look at your spending patterns to see what would result in a better return.
