Double Dip? AA SimplyMiles and Rakuten Amex MR Points

Double Dip? AA SimplyMiles and Rakuten Amex MR Points

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Ben –

I recently signed up for an AA mastercard, and registered it with AA’s SimplyMiles program. There are several offers that pay extra AA points for in-store purchases. I’ve also linked this AA card to my Rakuten account (where I get Amex MR points) for in-store purchases.

My question is: can I double dip and get miles back from both SimplyMiles and Rakuten for the same in-store purchase? (Or is this like trying to use 2 shopping portals for the same purchase – only one registers.)

I tried this a week ago and I got points through Rakuten for my in-store purchase but haven’t gotten them through AA’s SimplyMiles yet. Just curious.

    Thanks for all you do!
    Zach

I think SimplyMiles is exclusively for online-shopping, not in-store. So, you could potentially double dip on online offers, but I don’t think in-store would qualify.
