Does seat availability on line need to be accurate?
To verify availability of space in the First Class cabin on SWISS flights LX15 (mar 24) connecting to LX 196 (mar 25) I went on the SWISS web site and pretended make a new purchase. When getting to the seat selection page I found that LX15 (mar 24) showed all 8 seats in the F Cabin available and 4 out of 7 seats on LX 196 (mar 25) available.
Now the reason I did this was to see if my upgrade Wait List would clear. As a LH HON member I am supposed to have top priority so I was curious why, with such availability, my upgrades had not cleared in over 1 month! When I reached out to my Personal Assistant at the HON desk she informed me that First Class was full on both flights.
I then sent her screen shots of what I was seeing on the internet and her response was
” Unfortunately what you are seeing on the SWISS.COM website and what I am seeing in inventory control does not sync. I have reported this discrepancy to SWISS web support. ”
I find this incredulous! Am I being given the run-around or can this be the case?
I’m not totally familiar with the HON program, but generally, having seats available for purchase doesnt automatically mean upgrades will clear/are available. Sometimes, upgrades dont clear until the last minute.
It could also be that there are other LH HON members on the waitlist for upgrades. I dont know how the waitlist is prioritized but it could be another reason why.
