Did United discontinue PE class from SFO to HKG in Dec?
I’m checking United website right now. I noticed United will change the direct flight model for the route of SFO to HKG in Dec. Currently, United assigned Boeing model 777-300 ER for this route, featuring 1-2-1 layout for United Polaris business class and new Premium economy (PE) class that started in the market this March. It seems United will assign a new Boeing 777-200 to run this route starting in Dec. With this model, the layout of the Polaris business class will sadly change to 2-2-2, and no more PE class. I called United customer service. they have no clue about this change. I wonder if this change is temporarily or permanently due to the current unrest political situation in HK.
This route serves one of the best layouts for the Polaris business class. It is sad to see they changed to an older layout for the Polaris business class while United still charge the same amount of money. It is also sad to see United discontinue PE class for no more other options for passengers who like to choose between these classes.
