Customs at LAX
Hi, I am flying from Quebec to Sydney Australia. Quebec, Toronto, LA, Sydney. When I arrive at LAX do I have to get my bags and go through customs. Or does my bag go through without me picking it up? The fact that I am travelling from Toronto, does that mean I go through USA customs in Toronto? Any info on this confusing issue would be appreciated. I only have 130mins between connecting flights in LAX.
Welcome @koophil – I assume this is all on one ticket, right? If so then I think you will clear US Customs in Toronto and land in LA as if it were a domestic flight. Your bag should transfer automatically but you will have to go through Customs in LAX as you’re leaving the country.
Yes It is one ticket. so thanks for the information.

Thanks for that comment.
Hi Koophil!
You will have to pick up your bags in YYZ, and clear US customs there before your flight to LAX. After you clear that, just drop off your bags, and you won’t see them again until you reach SYD
Please remember that you MUST pick up your luggage in YYZ before clearing US customs. The airline is not allowed to transfer them for you to US bound flights because of the preclearance
