CSR/AMEX Plat. Strategy
Hi –
I am currently traveling 1x to 2x time a week BOS to MDW, and will likely be doing this routine for the next few years. I fly Southwest exclusively and will continue this since the low cost of airfare (and the companion pass I will earn shortly) outweigh the potential benefits of flying with an airline like United, in my opinion.
I have a CSR and Southwest Premier, the latter of which I will stop using once I hit Companion Pass. I am wondering if it is worth doing the following:
– Downgrade CSR to CSP to maintain points accrued there and some earning structure on dining and non-airfare travel
– Open AMEX Platinum (have seen a few offers for 75k points) and book all airfare through this card over the next several years. I have some doubts about this since I won’t be flying to places that have Centurion lounges very much… or leveraging the Sacks benefit.
OR
– Maintain CSR and book all travel through card
– Open AMEX Gold and take advantage of the dining/grocery multipliers and incidental airline credits.
Feedback much appreciated!
