Could an airline cancel your ticket if they “know” you won’t fly the last leg in advance?
Was looking at some EU-West Coast fares and found the following for 2500€ (booked thru LX):
ARN-ZRH LX J ; ZRH-SFO LX F
SFO-ZRH LX F ; ZRH-ARN SK J
For a bit of context I am based in MUC. The earliest I could get back to ARN on the inbound flight is 18:50 and the last ARN-MUC flight is at 18:25, so I would essentially have to spend the night at ARN. However, SFO-ZRH arrives at 15:45, which would leave me with plenty of time to catch a flight back to MUC. Getting to ARN is no problem.
My question is: If I book the itinerary above with LX and decide to book a second flight out of ZRH (ZRH-MUC on LX/LH) the same day as ZRH-ARN, could I risk LX cancelling my entire ticket?
Theoretically, yes, it could be an issue. I’d probably book the last leg, Zurich to Munich without your frequent flier number in the reservation.
