Cheapest way for Award Travel between Europe and Middle East

Cheapest way for Award Travel between Europe and Middle East

    Hi,

I am looking for a one way award from Europe (Germany or nearby) to the UAE in business or first class for 2 people. Which reward program has the best value and/or the lowest taxes? I have enough Membership reward points and Spg points to convert to all major airlines.

Miles and more is 70.000 miles and 450€ in taxes, so pretty expensive. Any better ways you know of?

    Hi Johanna!

If you have SPG points, one of the best would be American AAdvantage — they charge 42,500 miles one-way with no surcharges unless you fly British Airways. You can use AA miles on airberlin, Etihad, etc.

Depending on where your Amex is issued you’ll have different transfer options, but I believe Delta should be a choice. They also charge 42,500 miles one-way with no surcharges, and you can fly partners like Air France or Alitalia.

If you tell us more about your Amex card we can provide other suggestions too 🙂

While not reverse herringbone, I highly recommend using AAdvantage to fly EY ZRH/DUS-AUH on their 787. QR also serves a few European cities with their 787 and A350s and has reverse herringbones. QR’s business class on these aircraft are one of the best all around business class products out there, per Lucky. You can redeem AAdvantage miles for QR as well.
