Chase points and annual fees

Chase points and annual fees

  1. Anthony New Member

I currently have a CSP. When my annual fee comes around in August my plan is to downgrade it to avoid the fee as I don’t currently travel much personally right now (1x / year and my next 2 years are already booked – not with the CSP) and when I travel for business I am required to use my corporate card..
What I want to do is open up the freedom in the next month or so, transfer my UR points to Freedom (I know no-one ever goes in that direction) and then downgrade the CSP to the CFU in August. This will leave me with the freedom and the freedom unlimited.
I want to continue to earn and save freedom points and then in 2-3 years open the CSR, transfer all the points back over to UR points and carry the CSR moving forward.
Does anyone see any problems with that?
Especially the part about transferring back and forth between freedom points and UR points?

I don’t see a problem with doing that but right now the CFU has an offer for 3x everywhere for the first year so I’d hate to miss out on that bonus.

Yeah. Apply now for the Freedom Unlimited. You can always downgrade the Preferred to either Freedom Card. In this case, I think Chase will allow you to have 2 of the same Freedom card.
