Changing flights via Expedia

Changing flights via Expedia

  1. Anonymous Guest

I’ve booked LHR-HKG-HND and NRT-HKG-LGW on Cathay via Expedia. Got a “special business fare” (in bucket I) on all legs.

I want to change the third leg (NRT-HKG) to a later HND-HKG flight. Expert Flyer availability check for that flight says I9, which I assume means fares in the same bucket are still available. There’s a £200 change fee, which I accept.

However, Expedia can only offer me a fare in the next bucket up (D) for that leg, which is significantly more expensive. Cathay won’t help because I didn’t book with them directly.

Is there any way round this? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

When you search Expedia for just that segment does it show I space?

Thanks Gaurav. When I search just that leg (i.e. one way HND-HKG) on Expedia, it only offers full fare J.

Doing a multi-city search for all four legs doesn’t offer me the flight I want for the third leg.

Doing the same search on Skyscanner does offer me the flight I want, but only via a different third party provider.

As I said, Expedia call centre will offer me a D fare, and have suggested calling back nearer the time to see if any I fares have become available.

Am I out of luck for now?
