Changing CATHAY FIRST Vietnam flights from New Year’s eve stupid sale

Changing CATHAY FIRST Vietnam flights from New Year’s eve stupid sale

  1. Anonymous Guest

We were fortunate enough to have booked 2 first seats on Cathay from/to Vietnam to California back on NYE for $1200 each The outbound is in the beginning of April, and although I’ve found many acceptable ways to get to Vietnam, unfortunately the timing is now all screwed up because of a family engagement.
So, Expedia shows I can cancel the tickets for $300 each, and I guess that is my expense for the speculative booking. Anyone imagine a way to salvage this reservation and take the trip later in the year? I can imagine Cathay is less then willing to rebook this at anything other than current ticket prices.

I don’t know if there is any way to change your dates and not trigger a re-price.

That’s the downside to successfully booking a mistake fare! Not much flexibility when plans change.

Others on FlyerTalk reported having success changing to other dates with availability in the A fare bucket for $100; unfortunately that will be rare after all these tickets they sold.

You may not be able to change the dates easily but
How much for a name change? maybe you could resell them
