Card churning- second phase

Card churning- second phase

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hi. I have gotten about 10 credit cards in the last 4 months and gotten a ton of miles. Thank you for all the info and advice! I have been able to book suites on Singapore, business on AA to Europe, and I have lots of miles/points left. My question is… what now? Do I start canceling cards so I can start the waiting period before applying again? I am inclined to keep the Citi Prestige and British Airways. Thanks!

@Jen it depends on your needs. You may want to slow down just a little bit.10 cards in 4 months for one person is pretty significant and likely to lead to much harder qualifications down the road. The question of when to cancel the card is tricky. It depends on the lender’s policies around reissuing the card, your interest in keeping it open to extend the age of your credit history, and not annoying banks by closing account with a couple of months of getting a bonus. You’ll have to make your decisions on a case by case basis.

    Hello Jen.

Would you mind sharing which card you currently hold and how long you have had the different cards? And is there any cards that you have canceled in the last year?
