buying miles from starting new
i just registered frequent flyer programs of etihad and american airlines.how to start collecting miles without booking. as i wish to collect miles for my travel later.
With AA, you can apply for credit cards, such as the CitiBank AAdvantage cards (usually $3000-4000 spend in 3-4 months to receive the welcome bonus, first year $99 annual fee waived in some cases) and Barclays AAviator cards (welcome bonus after paying annual fee of $95 and making one purchase to the card)
Marriott Bonvoy cards earn reward points that can be transferred to both American and Etihad
For Etihad, cards that earn Amex MR, Citi ThankYou, Capital One, and Barclays Arrival Premier points can be transferred. Certain redemptions with Etihad’s partners are a great value, while redemptions on their own planes are not as great.
If you’re looking to actually buy miles, with AA you can’t do that until your account has been opened for 30 days. Even then I’d wait until a good sale comes around – and they run sales almost all the time, though some are better than others.
In addition to that, it’s recommended to only buy miles when you have a specific use in mind and can redeem them not too long after purchasing
