Beware of Waiting Periods

Beware of Waiting Periods

Not so much a question as a comment for newcomers:
I think it is worth getting, for free, membership numbers across the airline and hotel spectrum, even when there is no promotion going on. THREE times I tried to sign up for a number at the same time as purchasing bonus miles/points only to learn that there is a waiting period before being able to make such purchases. (In this case: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Starpoints, though there are likely others.) Having a number already solves that problem. What do you think Lucky?

Agreed 100%! That’s one of the first things I told my beginners session at FTU this weekend — sign up for everything, even if you don’t think you need it right now.
