Hi all

I’m struggling to find the best way to earn my star alliance gold status back.

I’m with aegean (45k miles on the account) and I’m blue status.
I have 260k Thankyou points that I can transfer to partner airlines and roughly 300k chase ultimate rewards points (also transferable to partners).

I live in New York and plan to travel to Europe twice (Belgium, Spain each time economy) and probably one time to Asia (Japan) by redeeming points to fly business.

Could you guys help me finding the best way to use my points and secure a gold status again?
If at all possible I’d like to secure that status for 2 years.

could I for instance transfer 50k points to my krisflyer account and gain that gold status ?
or would it be better to look for a sign up offer like with turkish or other?

Hi Nico, unless you already have top status somewhere and could match it to another, the only real way to attain Gold status is through actually flying. You can’t transfer points to get it.

But, if you only have 3 trips planned next year, and one is already in business class, may we ask what you hope to gain by having Gold status?

Thank you. I was thinking that there might be a way through a sign up bonus or fast track with some airlines like the one I benefited from when I became a aegean member…A friend of mine became a turkish frequent flyer and had a fast track to gold status.

There are definitely fast tracks, but I’m not familiar with any fast track that doesn’t involve actual flying.
