Best use of Citi points
I am closing a Citi card that has about 65K points and need to transfer the points.
We are planning an anniversary trip to Rome in October of 2019 and I want a very special flight over. Is it wise to transfer these to Singapore and hope we can get a suite on points? I have plenty of points to transfer from MR or Chase programs to make up the difference. We’re out of Denver.
Is there another ‘special’ First Class experience that might be better? Thanks!
SQ Suites may be hard to come by. If you’re just flying SQ JFK-FRA, it’s 76k points per person. If you add connecting legs on UA and LH, it goes up to 95k per person. Alternatively, you can have SQ book you LH F out of Denver instead – assuming they still serve Denver with First Class – for the 95k per person price.
LifeMiles is a new TY transfer partner – you can book LH F. Also, if you dont have enough points when you book, you can “buy” the rest of the points needed when you book the award.
The only caveat about booking LH F is that it’s only available to partners no more than 14 days before departure, so it’s not something you can plan in advance.
