So I’m an SFO-based AAdvantage Executive Platinum flier. I’m not totally confident I’ll re-qualify for EXP this year given the EQD requirements and a little less than expected work travel this year. I do think, however, that Virgin America/Alaska could do a great job covering the flying I need to do in subsequent years, particularly after the merger comes to a close. Given that, I was wondering if I should status match to Alaska MVP Gold 75k, and if so, when I should do it. I know the Virgin America program is sunsetting at the end of FY17. Perhaps a match in the fall would be a good option to get status through the end of December 2018?
