Best program for trans atlantic + some US domestic
Hello,
I am UK based and travel every month to different parts of the US and back. Whilst in the US I sometimes take internal flights as well.
I mostly fly economy and sometimes premium. I fly on a range of ticket classes.
I used to fly BA / American, and was heading happily towards silver and then gold status. BA then changed their rules and I moved to Virgin / Delta. I achieved Gold status in a little under a year.
Now Virgin have changed their rules “in line with the industry”!!! Therefore I will likley drop down the tiers soon and just go for best value for money unless I can find a better option.
So: for my travel patterns, which is the best loyality scheme, from one world, star alliance etc.. etc..
Ideally I am looking to achieve:
– lounge access
– ability to upgrade sometimes
– pick seats including extra legroom early and at no cost.
Thanks for any advise.
Hi Raj, it’s hard to say based on your varied travel patterns. You’d have to do the math to see where you’d end up on each carrier in terms of mileage earning and status. Are you able to apply for US credit cards? I’d think something like the the AmEx Plat or DL Reserve might get you the lounge access you’d like as well as even Silvers on DL get early access to exit row seating that makes travel a little more comfortable.
