I’m in a fairly unique situation. I need to get between PTY and HAV in March.

Copa flies direct several times a day, but tickets are $600 round trip!

Using Aviana Lifemiles for the Copa flight are only 7,500 miles each way! But like an idiot I decided not to buy LifeMiles when they were on sale in December! Doh! I am hoping they go on sale again in the next few weeks, but if they don’t, does anyone have any good options with *A?

– Ticket is to Cuba, so UA miles are out

– Aeroplan miles no good either as they stopped allowing bookings to cuba

– I have large balances of Chase UR points and Citi Prestige TY points…so I’m thinking one of the other *A xfer partners could work? Singapore? Eva Air? Thai?

Hi All,

Copa has several flights a day on the hop from Panama City to Havana…only problem is they cost $600 roundtrip!!

Anyone know how I would go about searching and booking these? My aeroplan miles are no good (can’t book to Cuba because of vacation packages) and my United miles are no good (can’t go to to Cuba because, well, you know).

I have well over 100k Chase UR points and City ThankYou points. Any ideas on the partners that would let me book onto Copa? Looks like Lifemiles will let me do it for 7,500 miles each way, but with a stop in Bogota.

Daniel–Do you have a friend with some LifeMiles? You could get some miles cheaper than usual:

Ben did a post about travel to Cuba but it’s a year old at this point ([URL]http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2015/01/20/can-redeem-miles-cuba/[/URL]). Personally I’d check SQ–I know they sell tickets to Cuba because I was playing with a routing last year. It does cost 35k miles though. The other thing you might consider if you can find a cheap reposition to Lima is using 12.5k Avios to fly to Havana from there.
