Beginner: Trip to indian ocean

Beginner: Trip to indian ocean

Hello

Im a beginner in terms of CC & reward programms.
In roughly 10 months i plan to go to the Seychelles. Now im asking myself, how can i enhance my flight/trip with any CC or programms?
The only clue is, that im located in switzerland.
So no access to the fancy US CC & programms.

So far i have seen an Amex Gold card with 30k points (15k miles for Etihad)

Do you have any tips or tricks for me?
Is it still possible to do such fancy miles collecting in my location?

Thanks

Welcome @European Traveler – well, you’ve made the great point that most of the credit card offers here on OMAAT are only for those who have the ability to get US credit cards. Not being able to get those cards does make accumulating miles more difficult. A couple of years ago Tiffany wrote a post about ways to get miles when you don’t live in the US. Hopefully there are some useful tips here but feel free to write back if you have specific questions: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2015/07/30/choose-credit-card-outside-us/

Im strongly considering Amex Gold.
Offering a 10% @Etihad and points can be transfered to the airline.
At a 2:1 ratio (bad i know).
I would like to fly Business without the hassle of booking that straight away.
So far I understand, that i could book a flight economy and somehow get miles together.
Made some math, buying Eco and buy the miles needed for an upgrade would end up at the half of the Business price one. (With the 15k from Amex even less)
I even called the airline and asked them if thats possible which they confirmed.
Still have a hard time to believe it…

Any idea or advice?

2nd:
When i would get a BA CC for avios, could i use them for Qatar?
But so far i looked through, it looked much worse than the other ones.

You can book an award ticket on Qatar with BA Avios if Qatar opens up award space to Oneworld partners on the route you are going to fly.

In other words, unreliable or does that happen often?
