Back to NYC from BKKish

Back to NYC from BKKish

I’m trying to find an AA redemption back from SE Asia in early March…most likely BKK. I’m actually leaving from Ko Samui, which would realistically put me in BKK + more restrictive timing: HKG/SIN/KUL. Wondering if anyone has any advice! My plan was to just pay for a ticket given I booked the 2 weeks earlier JFK-ICN-HAN flight in on a Korean F award using transferred Chase UR points. Really want to get rid of some of my AA miles…

That said, fares out of BKK seem reasonable. About a year ago I took basically the same priced EY J–>F Apartments flight home (3.7k) that is bookable now. I got delayed 3 hours in this mess — http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/02/19/etihad-a380-fire/ — plus felt a little silly given basically the entire F cabin were (very loudly discussing fact they were all) on AA awards in the F area of the EY lounge in AUH before pre-clearance.

QR J at 2.6k looks pretty reasonable as well (best timing for me turns out to be a380/a350). Have AA miles to burn but nothing I’ve turned up seems better than just paying. Would love some advice from more experienced folks!
