Are J sales to Europe a thing of the past?
The past few years I’ve relied on premium cabin sales on BA etc. for my travel from the West Coast to Europe. It’s been quite a while since there’s been a workable one ex-LAX. Is this a thing of the past? Should I no longer expect it?
hi there, not sure you can “expect” sales these days although they do seem to be cropping up from time to time. Unfortunately they’re just not predictable so you have to be ready to jump when they do happen or buy higher priced tickets if you don’t have flexibility.
There has been an increase in discounted J fares to Europe in the past year or so. I’ve only seen one recent sale (and it was unannounced) for five days in late August this year for fall travel in both J and Y fares. I’m not an airline insider but my hunch is that discounted J is the “new normal” and sales are more rare. My routes (to France and Italy) have been filling J cabins rather quickly with the new fare structure and decreased number of flights. That said, I still check weekly for unadvertised sales.
