AMEX To Etihad Transfer Question

AMEX To Etihad Transfer Question

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi All,
I transferred points from my AMEX account to Eithad to book a Virgin Australia reward flight a few days ago. When I transferred the points from AMEX to Etihad the points showed deducted from my AMEX account. However, when I logged in today I saw the points back in my account with the description ”Points Credited: Cancelled Partner Transfer”. When I called Etihad they show everything is fine on my account. They are saying the points were transferred into my Etihad account and used to book the reward flight, and the flight is good on their end. When I called AMEX they state the points were refunded by Etihad, which Etihad says they can’t do. My question is should I continue to raise the issue with AMEX or should I keep my mouth shut and be happy for whatever happened, as an extra 100K points be very fun . That said, I don’t want to risk any account issues with AMEX. Any help/suggestions are appreciated, also wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.

I’d probably keep quiet and be happy with the extra points.

I think if you’ve raised the issue with both parties you’ve done your duty. I would document the conversations and move on. I would keep a buffer of points in my account for six months to a year just in case someone figures out a problem and tries to get the points. You don’t want that happening when you’re flying a on a ticket booked using those points.
