AMEX MR transfer to SPG

AMEX MR transfer to SPG

  1. Anonymous Guest

How often does the 50% transfer offer appear for Membership Rewards to SPG? Presently, its 333 mpg points for 1000 MR points. Been waiting for several months for the bonus transfer. Any advice is appreciated.

Not sure, to be honest. I would never recommend that exchange rate, even with the promo, so haven’t paid much attention to the bonus trends. Maybe someone else can chime in?

why are SPG points so worthless from AMEX platinum. I am new to this and just got an extra 100k signup bonus for the wife and then had an epiphany that i could send all 200k points to SPG and then combine and then now almost 300k miles for alaska than saw the poor transfer ratio!! what gives? anyone know?

@ruejeff, not sure what you mean by SPG points so worthless from AMEX Platinum? Those are two separate types of points. SPG points are more valuable than MR points hence the difference in transfer ratio.

    Hi @rujeff, and welcome!

American Express doesn’t offer a good transfer ratio to hotel programs, so it’s a better deal to transfer to airline programs in almost all cases. There are lots of other great ways to use your Amex points though!
