Amex FHR: No Elite Benefits for Prepaid?

Amex FHR: No Elite Benefits for Prepaid?

I recently made FHR bookings with Delano and Bellagio and entered my WoH account #s. Interestingly, on the checkout bill, room charges aren’t reflected. Upon asking, they told me this is a “third party reservation,” which sounds a lot like OTA. My fear was realized a few days later: points were NOT posted due to not booking directly with the hotel.

This is contrary to all my past experiences with FHR, which brings me to 2 questions:
    1. Do prepaid stays not qualify for earning hotel benefits to FHR? Any other experiences?
    2. Amex seems to have changed their website to only allow prepaid FHR bookings. Has anyone been able to book non-prepaid stays on FHR?

I did a couple searches and it seems that it’s completely variable nowadays.
