American systemwide upgrade versus pay with miles upgrade
Which takes priority with American: Systemwide upgrade requests or Pay with Miles upgrades? On a recent DFW-HKG flight, I was surprised to see Business space go from J7 to J2 seemingly all at once. I’m EP, and I had submitted my Systemwide request in April. I ended up being upgraded at the gate. But I was wondering: do people who submit requests to pay with miles or miles+cash get priority over Systemwide upgrade requests?
hi [USER=1133]@Helen S[/USER] I don’t think the upgrade process as good as it should be. I know Ben has written in the past about having to call in to get his upgrade to clear even though he has been on the wait list. On the day of departure my understanding is that the upgrade instrument doesn’t seem to matter as much, just status and date and time of your upgrade request.
