American Express Premier Rewards + Delta Gold Skymiles

American Express Premier Rewards + Delta Gold Skymiles

  1. Anonymous Guest

I recently acquired the Amex Premier Rewards card because of the rewards it offers in certain spending categories. I also have had the Gold Delta Skymiles Card for a couple of years now. Is the $95 annual fee on the Skymiles card justifiable now that I have the Amex Premier Rewards.

    Notes:

-I fly Delta as much as I can, but not exclusively.
-I have found it nice to get Sky Club access for $29
-Free checked bags have offset the annual fee thus far, but as I understand it, the Premier Rewards card can offset some of that cost anyways.

Jacob, have you tried to do the math to see how much you would spend in a given year on both cards? Bag savings, club visits etc to see how much you would end up spending on either card? If the saved bags fees offsets the annual fee you might consider it a wash and keep the PRG for earning transferable points. It might seem counter intuitive but you might also consider the DL Platinum card instead when they raise the sign up bonus. The fee is 100 more but it also gets you a companion air fare ticket that you can use if you travel DL a bit.
