Aeroplan blocking transfers from AMEX?

Aeroplan blocking transfers from AMEX?

  1. Anonymous Guest

through my business I collect 200-300,000 AMEX points per month and I have used Aeroplan extensively over the last few ears to book star alliance rewards (I transferred about 3,000,000 points in 2016 alone). I have never had an issue with transfers from AMEX ever. It’s always instantly available. A few days ago I began to experience significant problems. I needed to book several flights but every time I went to transfer, membership rewards would refund the points within 30 seconds and listed it canceled by aeroplan. I couldn’t even get the phone agent to successfully make the transfer. Is aeroplan blocking points transfers?? I can imagine they are freaking out about reward redemptions since it’s leaking cash out the door and their contract ends with air Canada soon. Your thoughts?

So after a day of multiple calls and frustration just giving you all a heads up that points transfers to Aeroplan from Amex has been “intermittant with days of non function since the 16th with no timetable as to a remedy.” This from Amex after five calls and multiple agents. Everything will look like it went through and you go back to Membership Rewards to find the points all returned to your account instantly. This is frustrating as heck given some awesome availability in business class this summer showing and an inability to jump on it. Agents were not able to manually put it through as well. Has anyone seen this with Aeroplan?

We had some issues with transfers yesterday as well, but we asked our clients to try again this morning and it worked just fine. Maybe give it another shot?

    Very odd…
